[O365 TEAMS] Top 10 must know

Now that I have had some more time playing around with teams, I felt like sharing some learnings on the concept as a whole to avoid users spending to much time “figuring it out”.

1.
In Office365 “Teams” is an online collaboration hub, where specified members can share their work, voices and and thoughts. The “Teams” functionality can be added to an existing Office365 Group and this way inherit the users and the security around it.

2.
The “Teams” page can be connected to key Office365 services such as PowerBI, Planner, Office, TFS, SharePoint Sites and more.

3.
“Teams” can also be connected to non-Microsoft services such as Trello, Google, Twitter, MailChimp and so on.

4.
In “Teams” you can set up multiple “channels”. Each “channel” will represent something to collaborate within the team. In many words, this could be a project, an event, a trip, a conference or perhaps a reporting area showing what the teams is working on in Project Online using PowerBI.

In summary, “One Team” -> “Many Channels”

5.
“Teams” are available for download to mobile devices and tablets + Windows 10 desktop for improved performance.

6.
Activating the “Teams” service in Office365 doesn’t automatically show it in the “waffle/launch pane” afterwards. The service is currently in preview, and for that reason you must go to https://teams.microsoft.com and sign in.

7.
Most of what you do within “Teams” can also be shown within SharePoint/Office365 itself. This way, if some are more in to using “Groups”, they can still use this as their primary workspace.

8.
The final release of “Teams” is expected to be come out January 2017. I expect it will then show the “Teams” icon in the Office 365 “waffle” at this point in time, same way as Power BI got released.

9.
Anyone, or at least devs, can create their own connectors to teams. You can find guides and example connectors here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-teams/connectors

10.
You can be a member of many “teams” and still only access one landing page, which will be personalized just for you. The structure could be defined as I visualize below
