Microsoft Receives Strong Positive Rating in Gartner PPM MarketScope

Gartner has published the first edition of the MarketScope for Project and Portfolio Management Applications, and Microsoft received the highest ranking possible – Strong Positive.

This MarketScope is an evolution from the previous Magic Quadrant for IT Project and Portfolio Management. The transition to a MarketScope from an MQ is an acknowledgement of the IT PPM market maturing. Our Strong Positive rating is based on numerous efforts over the past year. Gartner gives Project 2010 credit for SharePoint 2010 integration (calling it a game-changer), notes our upcoming release of SP1, and concludes Project “can be one of the more cost-effective on-premises and/or hosted PPM systems.” From the report: “The inclusion of SharePoint 2010 as part of Project Server 2010, more seamless integration with the portfolio management capabilities of the product, the cost-competitive pricing, and advancements in native project creation capabilities independent from Project Professional earn Microsoft a Strong Positive rating.”
