Just passed the new Project Server 2013 exam

I just wanted to share to the blog followers that I passed the brand new Project Server 2013 exam 74-344. The exam title is “Managing Programs and Projects with Project Server 2013” and it is related to Project Online and On-Premise solutions.

For the first time ever dealing with a Project Server exam, I felt that I could really use my real life business experience, rather than being just strong on the backend side of SharePoint and SQL. Many cases were directly on the portfolio simulation capabilities, and others more on how to bring up random portfolio views for difference management positions. I love the case driven questions with screenshots as your input factor. It is much more powerful than the ordinary multiple choice questions. However, this exam will only work for those with some amount of “hands-on”/”real life” experience, especially since many of the answers are actually right, but only one is the most suitable one to get the job done.

To summarize, a big applause to Microsoft for delivering a best-practice PPM exam with more skills needed than just knowing about the server infrastructure. I strongly think this will lead others to take the exam in the future even if you are non-IT employee in e.g. the PMO.

The new logo itself also looks a bit different:
