No business critical application can work without a strong search engine allowing users to find what they are looking for. For those who haven’t spend years deep diving the Dynamics 365 platform, it can be a challenge to identify the steps to set up a “search” engine looking across your custom CDS entities. This guide will explain in very few steps how easy it is to do.
Launch you custom model driven PowerApp and try out the search engine. If nothing has been set up no results will show up
Navigate to “Advanced Settings”
Go to “Settings” -> “Administration” -> “System Settings”
Scroll down to “Set up Search” and enable search functionality
Configure the entities that should be accessed during a search
Now try out your search again and notice that it shows items across the different entities. Enjoy!
